"Creating Collage Faces"

Saturday, May 3, 2008
9:30 - 4:30

Using an original sketch or photograph of a face as our guide, we will employ a combination of mixed media techniques and layers of collage to create densely textured and colorful portraits. No drawing or painting skills required. We will suspend judgment and let our intuition guide us as we cut, paste, and paint the creation into being. Each participant is encouraged to work on two faces simultaneously; and at the end of the day, will come away with two frameable pieces of artwork. Full day retreat: $130 includes lunch, beverages, packet, some supplies.

"Free Spirit Journaling"
Sunday, May 4, 2008
9:30 - 4:30

Letting go takes practice. Come practice "letting go" with us in your visual journal, giving your intuition, unconscious, and hands free reign. Do you have the urge to let her rip but just don't know how? Do you want to relearn how to color outside the lines? Whether you journal with mainly words or visuals, you can loosen it up, and in doing so, discover secrets about yourself buried in the paint and words on your pages. We won't be working in a book, but on big loose pages that you will learn how to assemble into book form. We'll experiment with a variety of substrates and techniques, exploring the limits of the usual and unusual.
